How the studio works

Few apps, made properly

Bad Yorkie Studios is a one-person studio, which sets the shape of everything it makes. There is no roadmap driven by a funding round and no pressure to ship a category a month. An app gets built when there is a real problem worth solving and the studio can do a genuinely good job of it.

In practice that means a small number of apps, each maintained for a long time. Tantrum Tracker first shipped in 2011 and is now on its fourth ground-up rebuild — the kind of commitment that only makes sense when you are not trying to run twenty products at once. The same principles apply to whatever comes next: careful design, no dark patterns, and no treating the people who use the software as the product.

Questions about the apps?

Feedback, bug reports, and questions about anything the studio is building are always welcome.
